It’s designed for travelers, people sending or receiving money across borders, and anyone casually interested in following currencies over time — intended for everyday guidance rather than professional trading or investment decisions.

Core Features

Fast conversion between supported currencies using daily updated exchange rates, historical tracking to monitor how currencies change over time, and optional rate alerts when a currency moves beyond a threshold you set. XUsCurrency can also be launched instantly from Android’s Quick Settings panel from any screen, and is designed to feel polished and comfortable in both light and dark mode.

Built with AI

XUsCurrency was independently conceived and developed through an AI-first workflow using Android Studio, Claude Code, Claude, and ChatGPT. Entering the project with no prior coding experience, AI served as both an implementation partner and learning tool throughout research, design, debugging, and testing — demonstrating how modern AI tools can lower technical barriers while still requiring ownership, judgment, and product thinking.

Data Source & Philosophy

Exchange rates are provided through the free and open-source fawazahmed0/currency-api project and update daily, intended for practical everyday estimates rather than professional financial decisions.

Quality software shouldn’t require intrusive advertising or aggressive monetization — XUsCurrency emphasizes clarity, speed, and restraint, with a near-zero learning curve, while remaining completely free to use.

Privacy & Business Model

XUsCurrency is donation-supported and free from intrusive advertisements or paywalls. The app does not sell user information and aims to minimize data collection wherever possible.
